ANOTHER MASSIVE REQUEST!!!!
Guys, serisoulsly, if anyone could help me with this one then I would be eternally grateful!!!
Basically, I still have a tape from '98 which has always blown me away. It's DJ Stompy at Slammin' Vinyl @ Bagleys 06.02.98. It's a full vocal set. All absolutely amazing stompers! Unfortunately Charlie Brown ruins the entire mix by constantly telling the sound engineer to turn the mic up. I personally think the mic should have been turned off... but hey that's not the point.
Anyway, at about the 17min mark, the mix gets taken down for some ******** fro Charlie Brown, and then Stompy re-enters with an absolutely incredible mix of 'Follow Me'. It is a beatless intro, in which the chords and vocals come in, and then in the build to the drop, on the end of the phrase '...just how great the gift of life can beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...' and yes, their is that time stretch effect used on the 'be' until the Piano comes in and the track really gets started. Oh, and it also has one of those 'cho0-choo' train drops, where the tempo get's taken to half time before building back up to the dro too! All in all... Amazing track!
My question is... What is the exact name and mix of this track, and where can I get hold of it please? I would honestly prefer it on mp3, but need the unmixed track of course. Anyone got any ideas?
I bought 'Follow Me' on Essential Platinum when it came out. It had 'I Believe' on the flip. This wasn't the right version though. This particualr mix with the time stretched vocal that Stompy played is the best version of this track EVER! It has the most amazing working of the vocals and horns.
If anyone can point me in the direction of this, I would be massively grateful!
Thank you in advance! I'm sure someone out there knows!
Also, can anyone give me any info on DJ Stompy himself? He is the only hardcore DJ I've ever heard who's mixing I respected. Sure there were lots of other tight DJ's (as many piss poor ones), but Stompy did different stuff which really stood out, and his selection was always incredible! Is Stompy still making music? Where is he from?
Thanks again!
Rhys
