You wont have energy if you do that, it would be ok at home with weights or a boxing bag, but at a gym you would need energy to last a hour.

it may be harder but it would help speed things up. i used to cycle to work (quite a few miles) with no breakfast, and i would have nothing to eat at work till dinnertime

^^^ Jax you think it would speed things up but skipping meals would **** up your metabolism and cause like massive fatigue and other effects, it is extremely unhealthy.... and actually in the end would make it harder to lose weight..... eating right before a work out isnt a good idea, but an hr or so before hand is ok to give you some energy, a healthy snack/meal, not junk. after a good work out your metabolism should be going for a fair while anyway.... skipping meals is probably the worse thing you could do though....

Well energy is easy to get jax, u can have something like a 20cent 2min noodle with has little nutietion value or fat, but has carbs which turns into energy (about 80% out of the 300 calories).
im glad ur way worked.

Very true, that's why I said the best way instead of having 3 big meals is 3 smallish main meals with healthy snacks between them. Keeps metabolism burning all day and yet you take in only the same amount of food.

If you miss breakfast you only end up eating more later in the day, never miss meals!

mj wants to build muscle, not just lose weight. So, imo, the doctor is not the best guy to see.

When preparing for a Bodybuilding contest, I went to the doctor for a check-up,
just to make sure I wasn't over doing it with diet etc whilst getting ripped.

....he reckoned that I was three stone (42lb or 20kg) overweight for my height.... right.

to be honest, jax has said a lot of truth in here.
fat doesnt turn into muscle.
its better to exercise before you eat. exercise mind you not work out, that would destroy you. exercising before you eat meas that your body starts to burn off the fat deposits already stored up. if you exercise after you eat, your just burning the energy from the food you ate.

essentially,
the best diet is three meals a day, lunch being the biggest and dinner/supper relatively small. morning and arvo tea pieces of fruit. eat to the food pyramid, lots of cerials and vegies, fruits, moderate dairy (mainly milk not hit up cream ) and meat, and low fats/sugars inc eggs. stay away from soft drinks and juices, coffee etc., water and milk will keep you alive. broccoli should be the constant ingredient on your plate. i cant stand the stuff personally. oh, dont put margarine or butter on sandwiches

would highly recommend getting and staying fit before you try and hit the weights, mainly coz that is pretty much the best way to lose wieght known to man, other than rapid decomposistion and i wouldnt recommend that

go for a run/cycle before breaky and eat at work. squash is one of the best sports for fitness.

That's always the case. Muscle weights more than fat. BMI and fat percentage is a far better way of checking your weight. Also depending on mj's size he'll be wanting to lose weight to gain definition.

Lilley, 3 meals isn't the best way to bulk up or lose weight.

Ive got the opposite problem.

I'm an ectomorph and my dietician said i need to put on at least 10 kg of fat... just for aesthetics, before i try and gain muscle.

I love food and i generally eat a lot more than most people but its impossible for me to gain weight! Ive heard that if i eat 1000 kilojoules extra a day ill gain a kilo a week, but ive also heard i need to eat 2000 to gain half a kilo a week.

So far ive been eating 2000 more than usual and i havent gained shit. Im eating between 9 and 10,000 kilojoules a day (like 2500 Calories) and i still only weigh 55 kg. Frustrating as ****.

You need to train in gym. You'll just crap out what your body isn't designed to need.

If you train hard, your body will need more and will use the food you eat.
