Camorra - Roberto Saviano is an awesome book. And it's a true story.

i'm an english minor so i've had 2 read some older books by force and i can tell u right now what NOT to read:
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Beloved by Toni Morisson
so far the only books that I've enjoyed from these classes and would recommend are:
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
Mona In Promised Land by Gish Jen
and as far as just casual, fun reading I always go back to my RL Stine books, the original fear street and goosebumps series.

Back on topic
Iv actually just started to read Mick Foley's (another wrestler) "Have a nice day". For some reason i cant read fiction without wishing it was a film maybe my imagination has been warped from years of sitting infront of a widescreen lol.

just finished reading "Mainspring"
ab-so-lutly amazing read.

its set in a clockwork universe, where the earth rotates around the (litterally) lamp of the sun on a rail:
at night you can hear the cogs of the earth click click clicking, but somethings wrong, the tick tocking of the earth is getting slower...and slower..
the hero of the book is visited in a dream and told that the mainspring of the earth is winding down...and he has to take the key perilous to the center of the clockwork earth to wind it back up again before disaster ensues....
...yeah, i wont give anymore away, but its completly worth a read.

The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series is seriously the best bunch of books i've ever read. Look into them.
And anything by Dan Brown.

I read The Rock and Foley's books some time ago, very interesting to read about what goes on behind the scenes and some of the crap they put their bodies through. Also non fiction wise Ross Kemps book on gangs was quite an eye opener.
As for fiction anything by Stephen King gets my vote, personal favourites being Cell, IT and The Stand.
And of course there's my book, link below

thats interesting, i would have to say Cell and The Strand are my two least fave stephen king books. favourites are Shining, firestarter, and IT.
matthew reilly books are also good fun.
yeh, crichton and Asimov are quality.
If your into fantasy, Lord of the Rings is a no-brainer, all time favourite book, as well as The Belgariad by David Eddings.

At least we agree on IT.
I've read all but a handful of his books over a considerable number of years and it's hard to pick favourites. I'd also seen the films of The Shining and Firestarter before reading the books so perhaps that dulled their impact.
Overall I'd say if you read one, and like it, you'll probably enjoy most of his others. I've just read Blaze though and that was quite different, more crime thriller than horror.
I'd say his work was the biggest influence on my own effort, just wish I could sell as many as he does!
I'd also recommend James Herbert and Clive Barker.

I've read the whole Harry Potter series and the entire Alex Rider series Anthony Horowitz. I loved them both and that's the only books I've read for fun.
