Warp in all those pictures the amount of candy is rediculous, and kind of makes me worry that i might be stuck being surriounded by a bunch of candyass children at future fest in austin. i'm all for wearing brighter colors and looser attire, but all that extra shit is unnecessary. doesn't make u more/less of a raver or fan of the EDM scene if u don't wear all that stuff. but i agree, if you are gonna go out there and dance wear something comfortable.

o and i have this equalizer shirt that starts going up to the music around it. i would want to wear that to future fest, except it's really undersized and don't have enough time to lose the amount of weight necessary to make it fit loose lol

Umm no, that's actually about right for candy kids, though not all wear that much, and you're right, the more or less you wear doesnt show how much more or less of a raver or a fan of EDM you are. And those pictures are of Adults/young adults, not children. If you're so worried about being stuck around candy kids, then maybe you shouldnt go. You know that one of North America's trademarks to the rave culture is the whole candy kid thing, so it should be something you should be use to by now seeing as how this has been going on since the 90s. A rave isnt a rave without candy kids being there.

lol honestly i have no idea how it started, but it wasn't so much an emphasis when i went to raves in 1999-2000. yes there was colorful bracelets and stuffed animals, but it wasn't overwhelming here in TX. the angeli/fairy/butterfly wings were crazy 4 girls and just crazy costumes and stuff whatever for the guys. baggy phat pants was the in thing at the time and they still are in some places

Candy kids adopted the fashion from the early drug dealers in the scene which is why we get stereotyped so bad. Drug dealers would wear something bright or flashy so people could spot them out at a rave. When Hardcore migrated over here and took off within the scene in the 90s, that's when candy kids came around, mainly in Canada and West Coast of the States, but it didnt really kick off until the late 90s, then after 2002, it started to die down, but is now seeing a sort of re-birth due to the Ravers Only events as well as the Kandyland parties in Arizona. The West Coast is still pretty much kicking the whole candy kid image. The South East never really had that big of a candy kid crowd due to the lack of Happy Hardcore and the dominance of DnB/Jungle.
