skoda have brilliant cars nowadays and they're affordable. in addition kia rio's are very good, but they arent something you wanna be seen in. reputable cars include seat ibiza's and leon's, a3's, and various other 'sporty' hatches.

hehe, yeah
jeep liberty is called cherokee in england

i test drove one back in the states next to a Toyota Rav4 and it blew the rav out of the water the rav4 felt like plastic - as did its engine, i dont know anything about cars really, but it felt like i was driving an electric wheeler in a superstore..
for a few years i had a dodge Neon back in the states....which are pretty much what the ford cougar is based off...except the newer neons are a little better looking imo
after that i was driving round an exe's '99 Kia Sportage, which was a nice runner, did have its engine problems though..
then after that whilst i was looking for my own own car i borrowed a friends tricked out Mitsubishi Eclipse..

http://www.showoffcars.com/member/hctifnhoj?sub=clubs which was a ton of fun to drive...at one point i was about to buy it..but yeah..after alot of abuse it was looking more than a little worse for wear! then i ended up buying his mercury sable haha

which was nothing special..but it did the job, and i hooked it up with a massive soundsystem with a large subwoofer in the back..just to annoy people playing loud hip hop and country at stoplights..

Rather a tree hugger then a tree rapist :p
Driving a SUV is by default just moronic. I'm sorry but a car that cant drive properly anywhere just isnt wise. Carrying an extra ton of metal with you is stupid. If you need to go offroad, buy a car that can actually drive offroad. If you need to tow something buy a car that is 4wd and powerful enough, you dont need a SUV for that. Though there are a few Japanese SUV's that are somewhat ecological.

when i do buy a car, i will make sure its one that will annoy as many hippys as possible :)
its a pity i dont live in an urban area cause then i could buy one of those really really big cars to annoy everyone...
guess i'll just have to put up with spoiling the british lake district :D

*photoshops large SUV/truck into picture*
you can rest easy though...i'll never be able to afford an SUV, let alone run one at the cost they are to run

generally veedubs have a history of being mechanically bulletproof. why do you think they have lasted for so long? they just didnt break down. however after such a long lifespan, parts begin to die and they can start to cause problems. you should be able to find a few well maintained bug that will last another 20 years, but they will probably be a bit more on the expensive side. If your looking at something new, i have not heard anything bad at all about the golf. not sure about the sedan model or polo, but my guess is they would be of similar brilliance.

I have nothing against cars that can actually go offroad and people that need said cars. Its hard to explane since there isnt a finnish equalent for SUV, we call them (rough translation) Offroad cars and city offroad cars, the latter being the penis enlargment. What separates these two car types, is that the first is made to go offroad, the latter to go on asfalt (yeah many SUV's cant even handle gravel roads properly). Hell, if i didnt live in a city and actually had use for one, id buy a Jeep Wrangler from the 80's-90's. When we lived in africa we had a Isuzu Trooper, which according to wikipedia is a mid-SUV. But its nothing like the pictures i find from google. I might scan a picture to show you what i mean... But if you look that truck on the picture i posted earlier, notice the bumper (plastic?) and the tires?? That is an offroad car, but it cant really even go offroad, whats the point?

Yup, they're good cars, as good as Seat or VW, cause both are part of the Porsche groupe ( Porsche, Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda, etc ).
A Skoda would be like the lowerclass. VW the middle class, and Audi the upperclass.
A Skoda Superb for example is exactly the same car as a VW Passat. Just cheaper.
