Build a bonfire!

bonfire was the plan from last week and bonfire it stayed. up the street a bit is a woody section and upon inspection discovered that two trees were dead and rotten. like completely rotten. we were pulling off branches with one hand. we stripped the trees, lugged the branches back. the main problem was it had been raining on and off last couple of days, all arvo and continuing into the night. stuff it, we can beat rain.

Built it to about a metre high, in a hash shape with the smaller stuff in middle. add a litre of kero and your laughing. by the time it was lit, the rain had stopped and the fire was really heating up, with flames up and over two metres. let it burn for an hour or so and then threw the rest of the wood on. We still had a lot left and couldnt be bothered waiting around long enough to moderate usage, so everything we had went on. fire grew to a solid 3 metres at very least, and it was very hot. heading into winter, it wasnt the warmest night and it had been raining, so this was welcome. however we couldnt come within metres of the fire.

It was a pain trying to put out, it just wouldnt go out. there was so much heat in it that it kept on reigniting. eventually we just emptied a chemical extinguisher onto it, which smothered it well.

so next time your bored...
