yup.. you need dj's ofcourse lol :) some actually wanna play for free if you atleast pay them their traffeling expenses. gotta do a lot of advertising, flyers, posters, put it in the newspaper? try to get it on some magazin or so.. maybe a site ... put it on event sites (like uk got DontStayIn and NL has Partyflock..) could even put it on events on this site since anyone can add events here.
i dont know what comes with your venue... but i had to take care of my own secuirity and people who check the tickets for the event and also had to get a lisence since i had planned to go harder then the soundlimit they usually have there. usually thats stuff you need to sort out. but that depends on the location your aiming at. some venue's nowadays dont have vinyl decks anymore.. but maybe your dj's do want to play with vinyl (yes its not often that this happends but it does happen!! ._.) then you might want to sort out that part for your dj's to play. is anyone even wanting a rave in your area? go ask around or let ppl get info about that... howmuch people are interrested in such a thing. If noone is really interrested then dont bother putting one up. If theres a lot put it up that way that u can go larger the next event your planning! :) I bet theres a million other things i havent said yet :p

don't waste your money on putting adds up if this is your first event. get a **** load of flyers made up and find a few people who want to go and offer them free entry for help with promo, then go out the front of nightclubs, raves, partys and whatever else is happeining in ur area and hand out as many as you can. that'll be cheaper that putting adds in newspapers and on the internet and will have a greater effect on your target market. maybe tell people they get discounted entry if they present a flyer at the door so they hang onto the flyer

get a decent sound system. you probably only need two tops with two 12"s in each. make sure you have a good amp so no one blows the sound either.
decorating a venue is fun for a theme but you don't have to go all out seeing as this is you're first venture. I've been to parties that only had a fog machine and a couple strobes and had just as much fun as I did at a themed party.

Ok, thanks for the help guys, things should "hopefully" go a lot smoother now, an event should be posted on the events page soon.

Thanks for the info too, I'm thinking about doing one in my area but had no clue as to where to start, but now I have a good idea.
