I don't know how to explain what I'm looking for, and I know some people on here are into building things, so I figured I would ask here.
I'm looking for a program, free or not, to be able to draft buildings or just generally objects. I'd like to be able to put some ideas onto my screen, and make them 3D (Fine with 2D though), and just be able to look at them, and tweak things around.
Would use Google, but I have no idea what to even call what I'm looking for.
Just taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone here knows what the hell I'm talking about, and could help me out.

I think I know what you're talking about...
http://www.chiefarchitect.com/ http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/ All of it is by the same company. Prices vary (last I checked, between $30 and $10,000 ). For 3D modeling in general, there are a variety of programs I'd recommend: Sketchup - Free, not good at all for advanced modeling however.
3Ds Max - Incredibly powerful, although the cost is equivalent to your soul (unless you *ahem* look to a "large rush of water").
Blender - Free, and incredibly powerful.
LightWave - Incredibly powerful, the pricing isn't great though.
AC3D - Powerful, pricing isn't bad at all.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Blender looks great, but I'll probably start with Sketchup first just to see what I can do.
Much respect, thanks for the help.

I'm a draftsman and use AutoCad and ArchiCad at work. The former is good with 2D (Autodesk has a proper 3D program: Revit Architecture, but havent used it myself), the latter is for 3D buildings. Autodesk is the best 2D software there is. You make exact technical drawings with it. If you just want to make pretty pictures, its not for you. ArchiCad is good for 3D modelling. And with that you can make very simple models or fully detailed buildings. I use it to just make the exteriors of buildings, cause many customers dont understand technical drawings properly.
But i have no idea what youre looking for.

Guessing both are very professional, and very expensive at the same time.
I just want to do basic stuff to layout things, etc.

both are about 4000€ :P If you want 2D program and cant afford AutoCad, BricsCad is for you then. With a tenth of the price you get almost the same thing (I have 7 in my work computer, and have tried the trial for 9.) Very good alternative (but at 300-500€ still a bit expensive). Theres few things i dont like it, but i use autocad ~8+ hours a day, so i need it to be as good as possible :p

I'll check it out. If I can't seem to find anything that works for me for cheaper I'll probably get it. Thanks.

K, if you get the trial but cant get a hang of it, throw me a message, and ill give you some basic tips on how to get started. 2D drawing is very easy to get started, but the problems come when you need to use the more advanced features. But its easy cause you can start with the basic stuff, and learn the new features as you need them.

If you are a student then you can get the autocad software free of charge.
I use Inventor due to an educational program I am involved in and its great.

Cheers.
I'll probably need your help eventually.
@Underloop it's more of a...hobby? I guess I would say.
I'm actually in school for Information Technology.
