Well true. It's just funny to hear from a good friend of mine that the best thing he's ever eaten on his visit there was a sandwich from a vending machine lol.
I honestly don't think the food will be that big of an issue for me as it takes a lot for me to complain about the taste of my food. In saying that, I had the worst experience with a paella in Madrid. It was pretty much my only authentic Spanish dish and it was disgusting. The rice was mushy and almost soupy, and I had to take apart the shrimps myself. I had a way better paella here in Houston.
A coworker of mine said it also has to do on how spoiled we Americans have become with our food. We're a nation who prefers to go out rather than cook a nice meal at home. And with so many websites reviewing restaurants, the industry has become pretty competitive in making sure they meet customers demands. Yea we can make some horrible shit here, but as fat as we are we definitely know what's good and what's not.

Within the 2 years I had spended living in the United States I never met anyone, who was able to cook vegetables - private people and restaurants. The US are even worse than the UK when it comes to enjoying culinary culture. I say this although I had spended 5 months in China.

Broccoli is actually really nice (as long as you have a nice slab of meat on the same plate of course).
Actually I love veg and eat a shit load of it, even go days without meat myself. Not sure I could go without completely though!

going without meat is pretty easy after 20 years of doing it - I could never live without cheese though, **** that! :P I don't drink milk anymore, but thats because my youngest son comes out in eczema (like I did as a child) if dana drinks cows milk...so we buy soya milk now
eggs I like, but after an expolody burnt boiled egg(s) incident (the second one in my entire life) I've been temporarily put off by them.
put eggs on to boil...don't forget about them, they do actually explode loudly.
so yeah - could never be a vegan, would never want to be.

I'm surprised people actually replied to me.
I hate broccoli, its just one of those things Im fundamentally opposed to. So is vegetarianism. I could probably go a day or two without meat if I had too, but I wouldn't like to try any more than that. That said, I don't really eat enough veg.
