After thinking about it for a long time, I have finally decided that it is time to call an end to NSR Records. I have enjoyed the whole process, from starting the label almost 4 years ago, to meeting new people, releasing 3 CD albums and hitting various goals I set out to achieve. Firstly Id like to say that I am proud of our achievements, standing at 3 CD albums, 1 Hardcore Heaven Awards nomination, 2 airplays on BBC Radio 1, number 1's on Trackitdown, track inclusions on Hardcore Underground 5, 100% Hardcore, and other CD albums, DJ support from Sharkey, Kutski, CLSM, Jamie Ritmen, Fracus, Darwin, Entity, Thumpa and more and various podcast inclusions. These achievements are the things I wanted to accomplish when I set out with NSR Records and Im delighted that they have been done. On a personal note, I still believe that the Bondy Remix of Final Flight by X-Cyte is one of the best hardcore tracks Ive ever heard and it has been our best selling track and is a track I still listen to today.
There are 3 main reasons for the folding of NSR Records. Firstly, UK hardcore is a genre that I am no longer passionate about, I dont follow the scene anymore and its been a long time since Ive heard a hardcore track that has given me goosebumps. Drum n Bass is a genre that has grown on me more and more over the last 2 years along with Dubstep and House and these genres are now what I spend most of my time listening to. I could further explain why I am no longer passionate about UK hardcore but I dont wish to offend those who do enjoy it, each to their own as they say. The 2nd reason is time, I no longer have the time that I did when I was at University, I used to put in a lot of hours to NSR Records for what is largely a thankless job. This didnt bother me because I loved the music and the producers on my label. However now, I no longer have the time I would like to dedicate to the label and I dont wish to do half a job. Releasing CDs is a very time consuming and expensive project, and quite frankly with the time and money I have lost doing this, I no longer wish to continue as it has never propelled the label to be a 'top tier' label, we were never even close. The final reason is artist submissions, we just dont get them anymore. Its too easy now for people to set up a half hearted label and just release anything they like on it with no quality control, there are hundreds on hardcore labels and the genre itself is very small, because of this I just dont get artists submitting tracks to NSR anymore which is a great shame as I always tried to reply to every submission and give feedback.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me and supported NSR, there are far too many to mention but special mentions must go to Chris Ross, X-Cyte, CDJay, Entity, Lorenzo Acevedo, Fracus & Darwin, Doug Horizon and of course Nu Foundation who helped me with website, virus and music issues and who I also had the pleasure of meeting before he sadly passed away last year. I would have liked to have given more to NSR, but to do this you need cash and disposible cash is something I dont have. I would have liked to put on NSR events and release a CD album available in HMV and on Amazon, not achieveing these things are my biggest regrets. I thought about trying to achieve what I havent with NSR with a new label and starting a Drum n Bass, Dubstep and Electro label however again, I cant get the quality submissions I need for this and I just dont have the contacts.
I would like to wish everyone luck in hardcore. Hardcore will not die, contrary to some peoples beliefs. People should also support breakbeat hardcore, however, I do warn you that this will eventually lead you into enjoying Drum n Bass (thats what happened with me ;) ). There are still a few hardcore tracks to be released on NSR and I have listed them below along with their release dates. These are the last remaining tracks we have signed and I feel they deserve to be released. After these tracks have been released, NSR will be no more. To quote one of my favourite ever hardcore tracks....See you on the other side.
NSR073: Doug Horizon & Chris Ross - Activation (20th August 2012)
NSR074: Influx - **** Your Head Up (27th August 2012)
NSR075: Nakura - Where Are You Now (Defekt & SPIT Remix) (3rd September 2012)
NSR076: X-Cyte & Sliktrax - Angel (10th September 2012)
NSR077: Doug Horizon & ANT.ITH Ft Zoe - Fly To You (Darwin Remix) (17th September 2012)
NSR078: J-Virus - Electric Energy (24th September 2012)
NSR079: Dan Edge - Think About The Life (1st October 2012)
NSR080: Chris Ross - With You (8th October 2012)

I hate to see NSR go (I even have Future Hardcore sitting on my shelf), but things change and it had a REALLY good run. I wish you the best and hope you still stick around here to chat every now and then. :)
You say it's a thankless job, so... thank you!

i don't feel like i deserve a mention just for being a known supporter of the label, but its your choice craig; i'm just a supporter of music that i like. especially when a label has every release that i like. its real sad to see NSR go since it was the last label left where i enjoyed every release.

Aw come on, that's the only reason why I'm still here :P
Jokes aside. It's nice to see that labels existed to (help) release tracks out so people can buy, but there's been way to many digital labels out there. And to be frank, I did like NSR in the beginning, but after a while the releases didn't give me any goosebumps either (to put it your way).

Thanks for all the kind words!
Samination - Haha I wont be slagging people off, 95% of the people I have encountered have been great and down to earth but there are always a few no matter where you go or what you do. My problem is more with the style of music tbh, a 4/4 beat at 175+bpm just isnt my thing anymore, Ive been listening to hardcore for over 10 years now and Im just tired of it. Also MC-ing isnt my thing anymore and the good ones are few and far between.

Shame. I always liked NSR and i enjoyed you as a person too Craig. Even though i don't produce core any more NSR was always supportive of my music - always had a spot for me in the release schedule (even though looking back on it now, some of them were utter shite in my opinion haha).
Sadly it was only a matter of time. Hardcore is like a black void that destroys anything underground and rewards mindless generic shit. Complete opposite of why i originally liked it in the first place.
RIP NSR.

I regret not being able to do my part more in supporting the label, but I'm proud to have an NSR CD on my shelf and glad that it brought me some fantastic music.
Notably, Auscore - Here We Go.
Could. Not. Get. Enough. Of. That. Tuuuune!
The label has achieved a remarkable amount in its lifespan. 80 releases is a big number for a digi label. Its something you poured blood sweat and cash into, and while it didnt fulfill all your ambitions, you achieved some feats that very few people can boast.
Unfortunately I did wonder what had happened to NSR. I thought it packed up a while ago, as I saw very little in the way of promotion, rare Soundcloud activity, and you've been very quiet on here. This would probably work hand-in-hand toward why you got so few submissions.
Nonetheless, its been nice having you around, we've enjoyed your presence on hhc and in hardcore, and I've enjoyed out occassional 'debates' :D
Definitely hope to see you around the scene in the future!

How long will the label keep on living?

I am starting to like the more melodic breakbeat hardcore stuff, but believe me, I will never like drum n bass, unless it's melodic and mixable with hardcore ;)

Yeah, very sad news. At least you can hold your head up and say you achieved something mate. An impressive list of tunes and great quality - an awful lot more than all these ten a penny labels will ever do. Good luck with whatever you do in the future.

Because they're more intredasting ;p
You had a great run with NSR, and it's definitely something to be proud of, but as cheesy as it is to say (write), all good things come to an end. Best of luck with your ventures in and outside of music :)
