Yep some great stuff came out round this time.
was a strange time though, raves closing all over the place, big raves dropping hardcore, a lack of releases etc but the few tracks that came out were feckin awesome

This is such a wonderful set packed with a lot of the British stuff back from the 90's which I have immediately started to like when I listened to those tracks on this forum for the very first time! Well done!

Cheers warnman, glad you liked it, the late nineties/ early 2000's was the best time for freeform and hardcore IMO

No problem! I was more into Dutch and Progressive Trance during that time. But the Happy Hardcore from the middle of the 90's are my own favoritesa and I still consider them being the ultimate benchmark.

Yeah I love the mid nineties stuff, happy hardcore, bouncy techno and the faster breakbeat tracks, but I have a soft spot for the freeform and more trancy hardcore from the late nineties for some reason, probably because the cheese levels had gone so high by that time it was nice to hear stuff that was uplifting and credible at the same time

Yes, I completely understand this point, but in Germany this kind of Hardcore and uplifting sounds completely died out as well. Only few good producers still released some nice tracks, but only performed in big commercial clubs like in Ibiza, while boring House and ugly Schranz took over in Germany back than. Trying to become a raver was very difficult to my opinion, because everybody was only making fun out of you - even other peoples who liked a different kind of electronic music. Either you had the choice to listen to Hip-Hop or becoming an alternative nerd and listen to Metal - especially while highly commercial Trance finally killed itself developing into horrible Hands-Up or releasing useless remakes about 10 years ago.
I deeply feel I was born approx 5-10 years too late.
