Dunno if anyone else here is into ska or anything, but John Bradbury, the drummer from my favourite band The Specials has died today. Gutted doesn't begin to cover it.

Of all the people who died yesterday, I'd say Lemmy Kilmister from Mot?rhead is more known that these guys

You don't have to say something about everything. And it would be equally stupid to ask who that is when it's already explained who he is in the first post.

i live in coventry and it was a sad day for the city, as ska came from cov. if you like ska maybe try visiting the ska/music museum here, it isn't very big but there is a lot of stuff to see if you need to kill an hour. RIP to all 3 legends that passed away

I definitely would love to sometime, I've only been to Coventry once and it was on business, and the mrs has no interest in ska whatsoever so I couldn't go with her, I'll make the trip one day I'm sure!

i would suggest coming over to cov in the first weekend of july. we have the godiva free music festival, the neville staples band plays nearly every year, and either last year or the year before the selecter played the main stage on friday night, which is more 80's bands and saturday is when the yoots take over, and more modern bands play.

I met Neville when his band played in Preston a year or so back. I have kids and commitments so going to things that aren't local are a bloody nightmare but there's always groups I know who I can tag along with, so if it's free I might convince myself to get involved. Nice one!
*edit* I'm from Preston, so it was just down the road.
