britain isnt run by the queen though, we have govenment, mp's, constituencies - we vote them in, they make the calls...by listening to us hopefully! though i am sure our govenment is just as corrupt as america's...

LOL Rowan it's quite confusing here mate... You're arguing with us as you're British (or not as one past-topic argued, lol) but your name says USA as you live there now, confusing to people who dont know you!
well i'm glad i'm English to be honest, America sucks to live there... You're all blind to anything outside of the USA. A study was taken in an american school, they took 100 students and gave them a map of the world, of which the country names were bank... and they were each individually asked where the USA was... and 93 of them pointed to Russia because it's the biggest land mass, LOL!!!!!
and whoever it was that says 'USA is a democracy' look up the word democracy mate!
i like the fact that i can go outside feeling safe, and when i turn on the tv i dont get bombarded with newsflashes saying that i'm gonna be killed by some stereotypical Iraqi's terrorist attack... gees...
oh and i like the fact that we dont pile sugar into all edible food...
and we have a sport called Rugby, whereas you guys need pads, and decided to take our sport's name and call our one 'Soccer'... It's FOOTBALL dammit!

Well how could you say that it would "suck" to live in America if you've never been here yourself? I'm not saying America is the best place to live but all you've ever known is how it's like to live in the U.K.... I've lived in New York City for my whole life and I don't really know anything otherwise and I have to say that I really do like living here - it's who I am. I personally think New York, especially Manhattan, is different from all the other cities in the United States. People here are intellectuals, more open minded, free, diverse compared to other places in states.

Don't you think I would too? It sure as hell sucks to wake up everday and wonder what kind of stupid ass shit could happen to you! It's frightening especially when you have friends and family all around the city that was "attacked on September 11th." Don't you think that I and everyone else here would like to feel safe when we step outside to go to school or work everday?
And where the fuk did you read about that study conducted in an American school asking to locate all the countries on a blank map? It was probably taken down South, some where all the hobos are at who don't know their geography...In my GLOBAL Studies class, we're forced to have that information down packed in our brains or else we wouldn't hear the end of it.
Some people are extremely proud that they're American and believe that America is the "GREATEST PLACE IN THE WORLD!," but if you noticed most of them are Pres. Bush supporters. I for one am a Bush hater. He could get shot to death and be brought back to life to be shot to death again for all I care. (...freak! i am. i know) Anyways,
yeah, people do speak using a lot of slang + swearing, especially those people who are into the whole hip-hop, rap 'n crap scene. In my school there are a couple of "those." I usually laugh when they speak because I don't speak using slang nor do I understand any of it. Actually, I do. "That's madd cool!" Which simply means that something's really cool. They use the "madd" a lot when they speak.

I have a question. Why do some of you hate a person immediately just for being an American. Not everyone is the stereotypical American! It's not like that over here I don't think. I mean, we're not all like 'ooh you're from england...? sorry can't chat. i don't like you people.' That's something I don't understand. Seriously. Take me for example. I'd probably agree with most of things you think,say, and agree on...

i might add, although coming from a well grounded company who owns tv stations and magazines world wide (usually nature and culture based)
i personally think its highly suspicous, at least in the way its written
when it comes to the US figures, they dont offer any comparisons, they dont tell us how britain faired in the test, but they move on to tell us how britain and other countrys faired in other tests, and dont tell us how to US did...
so i think its a crappy report, if i was the editor i would have thrown it back at them and told them to re-write it from a more balanced view.

Hey, I got to a public high school now...though before high school, I went to a private school for about 11 years! =O
My school's cool. Rather small for a public school though. 500 students tops; including all 4 grade.

unfortunatly, whomever pays the bills gets to determine what is writen in the pages, it doesn't have to be fair and balanced. i try not to look to hard into stories like that as they are normally biased ********.
