Yeah I like them a little loose too but they fall off me, and I make them every day, I just make more and more because every person at my school is dying to take them off of me. But I dunno I think it's cool cause people stare at me funny, but it's a way of expressing myself. I like positive energy and I'll show that through clothing and vibrant colors.
They can call me gay. My girlfriend thinks it's cute =] But she hates if I wear any more than that lol.

But she's not in public. I'm just making a general statement.

If you ask me the whole kandi think just seems like a group of young people trying to be different by copying each other. Same as, Emo, Goth, etc. etc. etc. Why not just be yourself and enjoy what you enjoy instead of fitting into a group? Meh. I'm glad we don't have "kandi" over here TBH. Not because I have anything against anyone wearing it but I just hate social groups. If anything it alienates outsiders and discourages unity between everyone. Kinda funny since kandi kids always bang on about PLUR.

Yeah Kandi if anything brings people together because they give candy to show love and friendship towards others.

Well maybe things work differently in your counties... I can assure you it wouldn't work like that over here. Groups tend to keep themselves to themselves. But like you said, you were handed "kandi" at a rave, would that have been the case outside of a rave if they didn't know you were a raver? My guess would be no.
Why not just go and be nice to people and talk to them anyway? What's the need for the "kandi". It just looks like a label to me. Just being a nice, accepting person, speak so much louder than a piece of plastic jewellery.
I don't have any problem whatsoever with anyone who chooses to be a kandi kid or slot themselves into a social group, I just don't see the point myself. To say it's anything other than a social group would be kidding yourselves IMHO,
Also, I'd say you keeping what you have been given as a memento is very different from someone going out their way to look like a Kandi kid.
Yes the rave scene is about expression but since when was the definition of expression "dressing as others do in your social group".
Not having a go mate, just putting across my point and how I see it. :)

I completely respect how you view this and I do see where you're coming from. Kandi can be a "peer group" Sort of thing because "Kandi kids" will segregate themsevles from everyone else just because they dress different.
But the definition of Kandi kid is someone who has such a bubbly personality that they choose to express it through vibrant colors and mostly using Kandi.
But at the same time, the fact that they dress differently somewhat sets them from everyone else. A true kandi kid doesn't hold back from anyone, either fellow kandi kid, or not. They should hug them and share the love. UNITY.
But, I wear Kandi not really as a steretypical thing. I don't dress like a Kandi kid, I just wear the kandi because it shows people my "scene." For example, people ask me... what's up with those bracelets? I either get made fun of, or people are curious. Then I can be like it expresses my music scene and tell them how I am. I also see it as if a "punk rocker" can wear his little band tee shirts, then I can wear my Kandi. It expresses my happiness and my love for hardcore music (which go pretty much hand in hand for me.)
Some Kandi kids are dickwads though. and to me, that's not right. They should be accepting and love anyone no matter what peer group they're in.
But I see what you mean. So I respect your feelings =]]

...if you're part of the kandi wearing rave culture.
i love all sorts of electronic dance music. hardcore, hardstyle, breaks, gabber, trance, hard dance, house... all of it. believe me when i say i love the music. yet i still find the whole plur kandi thing to be a huge load of unnecessary garbage that people use to feel accepted and a part of something.
