Somewhat related: There is a new Dragon Ball Z coming soon, it takes place after Majin Buu saga but before Dragon Ball GT.

well, I think they could have use the same theme, as the dragon spheres and the dragon etc. but using diferent characters, I mean goku is goku and no human being will ever be able to play him, or any other character of the series....
if I had the rights for dragon ball, I will continue the saga, o make a movie of Dragon Ball AF, that would be awesome

I do agree Brian, I never watched the english dubs. I started reading the manga in my cousin's room in Japan. A few years later he gave them all to me to take back to the US. I started watching DBZ in Japan when the Android / Cell saga was still airing and all the episodes were new. I remember the next year I visited DB was somewhere in the middle of GT.
To be honest I was disgusted with every english dubbed episode of dragonball and hated everyone's voice. None of the Japanese humor went well with their voices and most of the conversations were totally changed into some other retarded joke.

Thanks for posting a few details about this film NeXuS. One of my favourite cartoons when I was growing up was Dragonball Z, although I must admit I wasn't quite as fond of the first "Dragonball" series or "Dragonball GT" as the second set of cartoons. Still, I liked the Dragonball cartoons as a whole.
It would be interesting to see how this movie turns out. However I felt the main strength of the Dragonball series was the gradual development of the characters in the space of 1-150 episodes. Vegeta was a great example as well as the likes of Piccolo and Gohan.
It will be an enormous challenge trying to transfer aspects from the Dragonball series into a (roughly) 100 minute movie.

Yeah, they would build up some sort of climax which would sometimes leave me disappointed, one example I remember is when they were on Namek and Goku took three full episodes to unleash his Spirit Bomb on Frieza and afterwards when he was unsuccessful you'd think that was a useless 45 minutes of airtime or so. Sometimes I found it appeared very little happened in an episode, especially near the start of DBZ series e.g. Goku running along Snake Way while Gohan chases after dinosaurs and Piccolo meditates. However like I said, you see their characters develop and the way they react to set-backs and how they move on and overcome them is what I find makes the cartoons great.

The Anime is based on Manga, so its based on comics. I think many of the marvel movies were really good. Also liked the Transformers movie a lot. Dont really like Dragon Ballthough, but wouldnt diss it for its original medium.

as for this movie.. i prefer an anime version of a DB how can you actually get the powerups, fusions, all those awsome attacks that good in real? you can try darned hard but it will look like a w*nk
