To be fair, the attempts I've heard about were pretty ridiculous. One consisted of a couple dumbasses with a car and pistols, and their plan was to "drive really fast towards obama" and shoot wildly hoping to hit him.
The amount of security he's going to have is going to be unrivalled, I'm sure there's going to be people who try to kill him but I doubt anyone in that state of mind will have the ability to pull it off considering how many resources are going to be put towards his safety. Let's face it, the people trying to kill him are not going to be the brightest people you'll find.
