I know you like the exclusive aspect of doing low numbers Olly, but would you ever consider bumping the number of units up? Maybe up to 500 or something? Still pretty exclusive. Or does the financial side of things get a little trickier, or riskier?
I've already ordered it, by the way. Just curious, that's all.

Depends on what he wants to gain. Upping to 500 will generate more money but at the expense of devaluing the compilation itself and i don't think that's in his interest. And i would agree. It's special because it's so limited.

Actually, usually it took him atleast a month to sell the last copy (with or without the help of NuEnergy), but this time was really fast. I kinda do feel sad about the people who doesn't get it, but then I presume that the artists can still give out these tracks as promos.
I guess he can go up to 400 for the next release :P

I haven't really checked out, but how much are the reselling value? Amazon or Discogs? =P I've seen the same thing being sold for 100 euros on Amazon/Ebay, and for 3 euros on Discogs.

I disagree there - I don't think it's 'special' in a good way. It's special in the sense that nobody can enjoy it.
Limiting such a great compilation of music to a few hundred copies is capital murder IMO.
Music is meant to be heard by everyone, enjoyed by the masses, not collected by a special few and coveted like a diamond.
Even though, fact remains these compilations are absolute quality and I will continue buying them.

Unfortunately Thumpa believes exclusivity is more important than enjoyment or money =)
He will not make more copies.
Edit: Lemme make it clear before I start digging ditches. I have utmost respect for Thumpa and his compilations. I think they're absolute gold. I just heavily disagree with the copy limiting.

limiting copies is prolly one of the best things to do in such a poor financial market in hardcore.
yes you're limiting profit, but you're also limiting the chances of ending up with a shitload of copies that will never be sold & preventing over producing the number that will sell and taking a huge loss(artists won't get paid if there's a massive loss or the label owner would lose money, why spend money if you're just going to lose it).

Yeah i agree. It's a really small scene and 300 is a lot to sell these days i think, especially when it's not something like Clubland X-Treme Hardcore etc that absolutely everyone knows about. That it has sold that fast in such a small scene is really quite impressive. But no doubt it is at least partly to do with the fact that it is exclusive. In a time where absolutely everything is available to everyone in digital form without limit i think this limit is necessary to make a physical medium worthwhile anymore. Otherwise everyone would just buy the digital version, and he would be wasting his time with pressing CD's and there would be nothing special about owning that CD even if he did do it. For all the people that didn't get it the first time, well then they can look forward once again to trying to obtain something that is sought after, something that has now been completely lost in the digital age where vinyl is no longer worth anything.

It's not the small copies themselves I'm upset about, it's the fact that he says he will NEVER reprint, NEVER give anywhere else, NEVER individually release, NEVER give -any- chance whatsoever to hear the songs if you don't grab the album.
What I think might be a good idea, is 300-print only album exclusive, but after a year, the tracks are digitally released.
Still makes the album worth it, still gives it exclusivity, but it doesn't prevent everyone from enjoying the tracks
