Not really. Despite a few shit things happening of late I'm still staying positve. :) No point in letting everything get on top of you, just ruins all the good things in life!

I have one friend who legitimately has depression, and has a good reason for it. she was raped 9 months ago and has had one hell of a ****ed up year since then. but no, she's not dead, and she's actually trying to get help and get better. Get over yourself and get on with it.

"i want to kill myself because i have a job and im getting paid".
HTFU.

holy crap! damn i feel so much for you friend. rape is not an easy issue. i have 3 sisters who were raped and a cousin. and some of them still haven't gotten over it. even though some of them still suffer depression in spite of it, they dont plan on taking their life away. they are strong women and want to live passed this.

send your friend our best regards.

yeaaaaa, not exactly fair - depression is completely relative to the person who is experiencing it.

i know someone who was raped, and then lost a child..but that doesnt make your friends depression any less valid.

true, vitalism hasnt been raped (afaik) but still, depression is an individual thing..i wouldnt dissmiss someone elses depression just because someone else out there is worse off than him/her

Ye its all about how u see the world and urself. U can think im glad that i exist at all, that i ahve the ability to experience, or u can face it with fear and hate everything in life, its all how u look at it. i choose the first, when im here anyways i could just as well just do the best of it and see the good things,

If he really hates his job so much he wants to kill himself much he can quit. Its not hard. All it involves is a) confrontation (not going to happen is it?) b) a letter handed in or sent c) a phone call (but even that is too confrontational isnt it?) or d) dont turn up any more, and dont answer your calls from them. and for a new job? there is always Woolworths (if thats in canada).

Im calling ******** on this one. Its no more than emo self pity "I have to work on my birthday i hate my life". If you want to see complete hopelessness, move to South Africa or Rwanda for a week. hopefully that will give you a kick up your backside. That is real depression.

Look mate, if im wrong and its real, not just that youv got noone to pull your dick for you, then do something about it. Go out and get help. Its available. Until then, this is bs.

You do know that people are not just throwing dream jobs in your direction, right? There are shit loads of people doing shitty jobs because they have no choice.

Also saying that someone else has it worse is just plain moronic. For one depression is not always caused by something, some people get really depressed, and there is no cure for it. You cant say to a person with DID to stop creating diffrent personalities. It doesnt work like that. Also ive lived over 6 years in Africa, and ive seen the good and bad from few countries in there. Money doesnt buy you happiness. Its actually quite the opposite.

As far as Vitalism saying he wants to kill himself everytime he goes to work. I saw that just a word to describe hes hatred towards hes employee, not actual actions he wants to pursue.

Nowhere did i say everyone loves their job. Of the jobs ive had, ive only liked one of them. But if the one you have is actively turning you suicidal its probably time for to change rather than time to whinge.

Hmm, not sure about that, i would say it usually does have some trigger, but thats not even relevant. OP said "don't know what good it's going to do complaining about it here, but i am just so depressed by my job and must vent."

I wasnt even thinking about poverty when i wrote that. I assume you have some idea of Rwanda's and RSA's history? (i just chose RSA off the top of my head, not for any particular reason over the other african countries). For women in those countries, rape is a fact of life. If you havent been raped yet then you probably will soon. If you have been raped then you will probably get raped again soon. The HIV rate is inconceivable to anyone living in the developed world. The amount of parentless, homeless children will blow your and my mind. And yet they, who have real reason for depression live in hope that tomorrow will bring help.

If so he definitely could have a used a better choice of words to explain that.
